Discovering Hidden Gems: Exploring Balikesir in Marmara Region

Welcome to Balikesir, a city located on the shores of both the Marmara and Aegean Seas. This underrated city has so much to offer visitors, and we're here to show you the highlights of what you can expect to experience during your stay.
Kaz Mountains
Our journey begins with a safari through Kaz Mountains. As we drove through the mountains, we encountered a little hiccup when our car broke down. But not to worry, we pushed it and got back on track. After the adventure, we visited a glass terrace that offered a breathtaking panoramic view of Kaz Mountains and the sea.
Ayvalik
No trip to Balikesir is complete without a visit to Ayvalik, one of the most famous districts in the area. We stayed at a charming hotel that also offered soap-making workshops. It was a fun activity, and we even had a little competition to see who could make the best soap design.

During our stay in Ayvalik, we explored the town center, which had beautiful streets perfect for leisurely strolls and shopping. We also indulged in some delicious cookies that are a must-try when visiting Ayvalik.
Food in Ayvalik
Ayvalik is known for its cuisine, especially dishes made with olive oil. We visited a restaurant that served traditional vegetarian food made with plant-based ingredients and lots of olive oil. The flavors were incredible, and we highly recommend trying these dishes when you visit Ayvalik.
Cunda
Cunda is another picturesque town in Balikesir that is worth exploring. We spent a whole day there, wandering the streets and visiting Rahmi Koc Museum, which showcases various exhibits related to technology and transportation.

One of the highlights of Cunda is the opportunity to learn and experience windsurfing. With a constant breeze, it's the perfect place to try this exciting water sport.
We also visited the sunset location of Cunda, known as the "hello of the lovers." Watching the sunset from this spot was magical, and the atmosphere was filled with joy and cheer.
Sindirgi
In Sindirgi, we visited a museum that showcases the cultural heritage of the village. It's a unique experience to stay overnight in this museum, where you can immerse yourself in the local traditions and see traditional clothing and items.
Sindirgi is also known for its thermal waters, and nearly 50 houses in the village use this water source. It's highly recommended to try a thermal water experience here as it has both mental and physical health benefits.
Susurluk
Our final stop was Susurluk, where we visited the Chilak Waterfall. The waterfall was a sight to behold, and we even captured some incredible FPV shots from above.
